Age of Enlightenment

Have you ever wondered why our world is the way it is? Our governments are corrupt, our middle class is considered poor and uneducated, and our society rather pop that latest anti-depressant rather than face their demons.

In a world of such chaos and negativity, how can we ever truly find happiness?

Have you ever heard the phrase "what you think is what you get?" Well, it is true! The way you look at your life and situations is what will be reflected back to you. Take for example, you HATE your job. It is unfulfilling, stressful, and maybe it even sucks the life out of you. You get up every morning dreading going to work. Does that sound familiar? Probably....I've been there too.

Now what if you looked at your awful job as a lesson? What are you supposed to learn from this situation? Are your co-workers who talk behind your back really teaching you to thicken your skin? Are your rude customers helping to teach you unconditional love? What about your relentless boss? Is he/she teaching you to alway strive for a little bit more?

Any bad or negative occurrence in your life does NOT happen by chance or by accident. It is a carefully placed event to teach you something about yourself. It just depends how you want to look at it; do you play victim or hero in your own life?

Sometimes the universe will push or pull us into situations that tests what we are really made of because if we are not pushed to our limits, we would never know how strong we actually are. A mother of two depends solely on her husband for financial and emotional support. She stays at home to take care of her children and has placed all her dreams and future plans in a box in the back of the closet to sit and collect dust. Then one day her husband leaves her for a younger woman and she is forced to stand on her own to support her children. Her life as she knows it is over and the future is completely unstable and unknown.

She can choose to play victim or she can choose to play hero. She can go into a deep depression, medicate herself, hold on to the hurt and pain for many, MANY years and maybe never have a romantic relationship again for fear of getting hurt. OR, she can mourn the loss of the dependent woman she once was, she can go back to school to get an education in a field she was always interested in, she can get a job and feel the power of brining in her own income. Her children will grow up knowing the value of working hard and providing for themselves. She can re-invent herself and one day meet a man (or woman) who is at the same vibration of her newly developed self and truly find what it means to be in love.

Any situation can make us or break us and it is time for everyone to learn to make this life everything we have ever wanted. This is the Age of Enlightenment! It is time for you to dig deep and bring to the surface any unresolved emotional baggage, fears and secrets that energetically hold you back from your greatest potential. Believe it or not, when you try to cover up and hide past emotions, traumas, and judgments, your life and health will pay the devastating price.

Illness and disease are reflections of our inner space. It is our body's warning system letting us know that the way we treat our spiritual selves is killing us. Do you give too much of yourself? Do you bend over backwards to make everyone else happy and completely neglect yourself? Do you live and breathe for your children or spouse? These ways of thinking/living, though we are taught it is better to give than to receive, are making us sick. Literally. My friend and mentor uses the following analogy, imagine you are a bank, you give money out to your friends and family, to strangers and co-workers, but you never put money in because you are so busy giving to everyone else. Soon you will be negative and overdrawn. That is what is happening to your body and soul when you give everything to everyone else with out taking time to give to your self. These deficiencies turn into cancers, illness and traumas. Though these are serious, life-altering events, they kind of need to be to wake you up and force you to start focusing on the most important thing, YOU.

Once you start changing the way to see yourself, your life and your world, you will start to shift the energy around you to a more vibrant and positive energy and soon you will start see things in your life change. You find the perfect job, you find the perfect mate, you follow your soul's path and truly find your place in the world. It is all possible and all events and situations you encounter (positive and negative) are placed on your path to teach you about an aspect of yourself that is needed for the next step in your beautiful journey. It is easier than you think, but requires a commitment  to work through your demons and once you do, you will unfold that which is greater than you could ever imagine. I promise.

Until next time, take care of yourselves and follow your heart.
